Public Safety isn't just a priority of mine it is the reality of life today. D1 deserves an "all hands on deck" approach for neighborhood safety of our children, vehicles, homes and if we do not pay close attention to this number 1 issue then we begin that "broken window" effect and things spiral out of control. It starts with respect for our officers and respect for the job of keeping us safe. I will do both I will seek safety as a daily focus of the D1 office.
D1 historic buildings and neighborhoods are our identity and our strength. Protecting and respecting what was built as far back as the late 1800's is necessary. Today my D1 office will stay vigilant to these efforts. I want to know each neighborhoods story and work with each neighborhood as they hold onto the legacy built and preserve it for tomorrows generation...even as the city landscape changes.
D1 residents deserve a responsive and experienced staff and office. I will bring an office of efficiency and one that listens. An office that gets the job done. An office staffed with those experienced with city departments. An office that is open, friendly, inclusive and doesn't run away from the problem but towards it. I bring 30 years experience of managing employees, office organization and solving problems.
Changes in the topography of land, changes the flow of water and new and annoying puddles or worse crop up. With old and failing pipelines or the addition of new infrastructure it's important to know and prepare for water changes. My D1 office will work closely with the community and public works departments for a smoother landing for construction ahead.
Sidewalks are 'quality of life' items that the city provides.
We use sidewalks as a means of transportation as well as pleasure for walking our pets, time with our children, or for exercise. I want to see that each and every sidewalk be in good repair and ready to serve the communities need. I served on the 2017 bond 'streets, sidewalks, bridges' committee and will take great time and care to see these projects from years back get finished today.
D1 has streets that need immediate attention. Far too long this can has been kicked down the road. This is a priority for safety, for well-being and for neighborhoods and businesses to thrive. Reviewing the current calendar of repairs due and timely notices to residents when they are coming will be taking place again in D1. It's not just a campaign promise its a passion to get our roads working well for you.
